On April 23, 2023 students in PHIL 3620 Hinduism presented their research on debates and dialogues between Jainism and Hinduism at the Jain Society of North Texas (JSNT). The event marks the ongoing collaboration between JSNT and UNT's Bhagwan Adinath Professorship in Jain Studies.

The students of PHIL 3620 presented on topics including the role of women in Jainism and Hinduism, South Asian logic and epistemology, environmental movements, and meditation.

The event drew a sizable crowd at JSNT, as both children and adults attending the weekly pathshala (or education programs) made time to visit with the UNT presenters and discuss their posters. All attendees were able to vote for their favorites.

The winners were tied: first place awards went to the posters "Saptabhangi" by Hayley Parham and Urja Joshi and "Spiritual Responsibility in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" by Thomas Cooper and Elias Green. Second place went to Sean Walker and Drew Wheeler with their poster "How Foods Affect Spiritual Attainment." Congratulations to Hayley, Urja, Tom, Elias, Sean, and Drew!

After the poster session, UNT students were able to join JSNT for their annual picnic lunch. Later, the posters were displayed in the atrium of the Environmental Education, Science, and Technology building through the end of the spring 2023 semester.

The Bhagwan Adinath Professorship in Jain Studies is supported through the generosity of the Jain Education and Research Foundation (JERF) and JSNT, along with UNT's College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the Department of Philosophy and Religion.
